Riverfest! 2018

Our annual, premiere community event, Riverfest!, wrapped up last week and has been a true celebration of the Parramatta River. In previous years Riverfest! was hosted by one of our member councils as a single event. For the first time this year, it was held as a series of events across six local government areas, showcasing the many and diverse ways people can enjoy the river and its surrounds.

Events included cycling tours, a river cruise, bush and river foreshore clean-ups, children’s science and art workshops, a swimming competition and even yoga in the park!

Following the launch of our Parramatta River Masterplan, and the announcement of three new swimming sites on the river, events such as Riverfest! will continue to play a vital role in celebrating the river and enabling us to obtain community input as we implement our plan to deliver a world-class river for all Sydneysiders to enjoy.

A big thank you goes to Blacktown City Council, City of Canada Bay, City of Parramatta, City of Ryde, Hunters Hill Council, and The Hills Shire Council for hosting events as well as the many community groups that came on board for the first time to be part of Riverfest! We look forward to expanding this event in coming years to continue celebrating the many wonderful ways we can enjoy Our Living River!
