Baludarri Wetland is named in honour of Baludarri, a young Burramatagal man of the Dharug Nation who played a key role in early contact between First Nations people and European settlers, helping to foster early trade and understanding. The wetlands hold deep cultural significance for the Dharug people as a place of resources, gathering, and spiritual connection. Today, the site continues to recognise Baludarri’s legacy as an important cultural and ecological place.
