New litter buster for the Parramatta River!
We were excited to test our latest litter reduction initiative along the river foreshore recently! Kellie Darley from online parents’ forum ParraParents joined us at George Kendall Riverside Park in Ermington where she holds regular clean-up events. The litter vacuum is perfect for easier collection of smaller and lighter items such as food wrappers, bottle tops, cigarette butts and polystyrene foam without disturbing the sediment underneath. The vacuum’s size prevents it from being used in some of the more secluded parts of the foreshore, however it can pick up litter in a fraction of the time when compared with manual litter picking crews.
We’re keen to name our litter vacuum but need your help to decide! You can choose from:
1. Parramatta River V.A.C. (Very Awesome Cleaner) or
2. O.R.C. (Our River Cleaner).
