Have your say on the Callan Park Tidal Baths

The local community is invited to have its say on the proposed swim site at Callan Park Tidal Baths on the Bay Run at Lilyfield.

The design will deliver a family oriented recreational facility and provide safe, accessible swimming for the whole community. A new accessible pathway at the site will integrate the swimming area with existing features and amenities of the surrounding parkland, including Leichhardt Sports precinct and the Bay Run.

To ensure the site is safe for community use, the Council has undertaken two years of extensive environmental impact research, river depth and floor quality testing.

Water quality monitoring has been carried out since 2018 in collaboration with Sydney Water and NSW Government’s Beachwatch. The new site will feature monitoring equipment on site will enable real-time water quality notification using methods such as smart phone apps, hotlines and signage.

The project is part of Inner West Council’s ongoing work as a member of the Parramatta River Catchment Group. The swim site aims to help people better understand the value of keeping our rivers clean and healthy as they get increased opportunities to swim and play in them.
